If you’re planning a photoshoot in Fort Myers, these are some of the best locations. This area is full of beautiful places, whether you’re looking for beach scenery, urban charm, or something a little more unique. Here are some of my go-to places to take pictures in Fort Myers!
If you’re looking for a charming city vibe, try Downtown Fort Myers, there are lots of different photoshoot options there! From the Edison Theatre, to the Caloosahatchee River, and everything in between, there’s sure to be locations you love here. While I love downtown for headshots and branding sessions, it’s also great for couples photography or family sessions. Plus, you can grab some ice cream after your photoshoot at Scoops on First or grab a bite at one of the many restaurants!
Some of the most scenic beaches are state parks because all of the natural beauty is preserved. Lovers Key State Park is one of the best in Fort Myers, and with that name isn’t it perfect for an engagement session? The peaceful environment makes it ideal for a photoshoot and it’s also popular for beach weddings! This beach is best accessed by a tram ride, so arrive early!
Fort Myers Beach is one of the only beaches where dogs are allowed to join your photoshoot, but they must be leashed. Bowditch Point Park, located on the northern tip of the island, is another beautiful location, though parking can be limited and dogs are not allowed. The island has seen damage from Hurricane Ian, but the community has made great strides in restoring it, and it remains a wonderful location for photoshoots, with the ocean view and beautiful sunsets. I recommend trying a local restaurant like Doc Ford’s while you’re out there to support the island!
A local Fort Myers park can be a great spot for a photoshoot. One of my favorites is Lakes Park, but many local parks could work just as well! I also like adding activities to family sessions. Some family playtime on the playground can make for some fun and interesting photos.
The next three photoshoot spots are not technically in Fort Myers, but they are great options in the area! Sanibel and Captiva Islands have great beach scenery. The Sanibel Lighthouse is a great spot for photos, and the beaches on these islands are known for their white sand and seashells. They also experienced damage from Hurricane Ian, but as their website says, it’s “not perfect, but still paradise.”
For a change of pace, Koreshan State Park offers a beautiful natural setting away from the beaches. The sweeping oak branches covered in Spanish moss provide beautiful backgrounds and the Victorian bridge is another favorite photo spot. I love this shot on the river there!
Located farther south in Naples, this state park offers another natural beach experience. Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is a pristine, preserved beach and there’s always driftwood or greenery for an alternate background to the ocean.
