Best for: Conversation-based dates, impressing with your picnic spread, budget-friendly dates
Pack a blanket and a dinner for a low key picnic on the edge of the lake at Lakes Regional Park. If you don’t want a picnic, Lakes Park is also great for a walk or renting bikes or swan boats. If the date is going well you can hit up Sun Harvest Citrus afterwards for a citrus soft serve. It’s just a 10 minute drive, time it so that you end up here around 7pm because they have ice cream happy hour from 6-8pm. This is one of the best cheap date ideas in Fort Myers if you still want something thoughtful and cute without overplanning.

Best for: Low-pressure conversation, first dates, trying new cafes or restaurants, day or night
Not just for first dates, but this is a foolproof option for those awkward first dates. If you want a casual bite and drinks, go to 10 Twenty Five, or for upscale cocktails head to the Beacon Social Drinkery at the Luminary. For an alcohol free or day-date, grab coffees at Peter’s German Cafe and chat there for as long as you like. After the drinks are finished continue the conversation walking around downtown, walk along the river or down first street exploring the shops. For long term couples looking for more variety, go during Art Walk on the 1st Friday or Music Walk on the 3rd Friday of the month (both 6-10pm).
Best for: double dates, competitive fun, second dates, day or night
Going to Popstroke is one of the most fun date nights in Fort Myers for competitive couples or a good second date option. This elevated and adult-oriented mini golf spot keeps the date from feeling like a kids’ activity. The activity is the main focus, but everything you need for the date is here. Whether you want dinner at the restaurant first or you need a milkshake or cocktail delivered on the golf course.

Best for: active couples, long term relationships looking for an adventure, day dates
Head out in the morning to rent bikes on Sanibel and explore their 25 miles of bike trails. Start at either Finnimore’s Bike Rentals or Billy’s Rentals. Then choose your own adventure: you could go shelling at Bowman’s Beach, take pictures of the Sanibel Lighthouse, or look for wildlife on the J.N. Ding Darling bike trails. After all that exercise, you could grab a casual lunch at Cheeburger Cheeburger.
Best for: first dates, exploring historical spots, day dates
For a first date or low-pressure daytime plan, this is one of the best date ideas in Fort Myers if you want built-in conversation points. You can grab a coffee before strolling the grounds of our local museum, the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. I recommend a coffee at the new downtown location of Chocolattes or you can grab your drink on the museum grounds at the Banyan Cafe. Both are great! At the museum you’ll see the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, as well as Mina Edison’s elegant moonlight garden.

Best for: Anniversaries, doing something completely new, romantic sights
A sunset cruise is one of the most romantic things to do in Fort Myers, making it a perfect date idea for an anniversary or something special. There are a lot of private charter options, but I recommend Copacetic Sailing who will take you out on a sailboat and tell you about the wildlife and sights. You can bring drinks and relax in the hammock over the water. You don’t really have to plan anything, just book the charter, show up and enjoy the moment together.
Best for: Second dates, double dates, unique activities
Escape Room Adventures is a weatherproof indoor activity, perfect for those hot summers and thunderstorms. You can choose between rooms that take you on a flashback to the 80s, onto a pirate ship, or solve a diamond heist. And that’s not even all of the rooms! The more difficult rooms would be especially fun for group dates. If you’re looking for something different, this is one of the most interactive and fun things to do as a couple in Fort Myers.
Best for: home chefs or takeout, creative dates
This is one of my personal favorite home dates, it’s dinner and a movie but with added creativity, pick a movie and a menu to match. For example, show a vampire movie and have blood orange juice, tomato-sauced pasta, and red velvet cupcakes after. Or watch Disney’s Luca and make their official trennette al pesto recipe. Get creative with this one! And if you’re not a great cook you can always order takeout to match.
Planning a great date doesn’t have to be complicated, you just need a plan that fits your vibe. Whether you want something low-key, playful, or a little more adventurous, these date ideas in Fort Myers are designed to feel easy and natural.
I’m a Fort Myers couples photographer, specializing in capturing surprise proposals. But honestly, not every moment worth remembering has to be a proposal or anniversary. Some of the best ones are the simple moments like walking downtown, sharing ice cream, or just spending time together. I love capturing those dates just as much as the big milestones. If you want photos that really feel like you, I’d love to help you document it. Reach out here and let’s plan something fun.
