We started Savanna and Clay’s engagement session at Bowman’s Beach on the boardwalk. Savanna and Clay left their shoes at the end of the boardwalk, “it’s Sanibel” she said. Strangers are like family on Sanibel, no need to worry about your stuff here. As I was getting my settings ready to take the first photos, one of these strangers stopped to join a picture! Naturally, I took it, I’m not sure it’s the best photo but it’s a fun memory.

Then, things got even better.
A second stranger stopped and asked if they were getting married. They said yes, and he said “here’s a shell for good luck”. Of course I had to take some photos of the lucky shell. The best part is that Savanna works as a marine science educator on Sanibel. She went straight to telling us all the details of this cute little Florida fighting conch. She taught us that they don’t fight at all!

After our conch education session, we got some more pictures running around in the shoreline. We also got these pics of them watching and waiting for the green flash. A rare phenomena where a green spot appears just above the sun as it goes beneath the horizon. It didn’t happen this time, but now that I know about it I’ll happily be waiting for it at future sessions! We wrapped up with one last reflection shot and then returned to the parking lot. And yes they’re shoes were still waiting for them!
